Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States.
Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for about a month. The food is all high quality one would purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-of-date goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.
Also offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken, pork and fresh fruit and veggies. There is no limit to the number of units specials an individual can purchase, and there are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere.
Who is the ministry for? ANYONE can participate. There are no income guidelines and the whole community can participate.
What does it include? Angel Food’s groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into a large box at $30 per unit. Each month’s menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $50. Comparison shopping has been done across the country using a wide range of retain grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.
Or, you may choose a Senior Box which is ten individual, fully-cooked and ready to heat and serve. Each meal has no added sodium, is low in fat, and is nutritionally balanced for seniors with 3 oz. of protein, vegetables and/or fruit, and a starch. The cost is $28.00.
An Allergen-free Box is also available. It is processed to eliminate the eight top serious allergens: peanuts, soybean, milk, eggs, fish, crustacea, tree nuts and gluten (wheat, rye, and barley).
Does the menu change? Yes, the menu changes each month. Menus for the next month will be available prior to the order date.
How do I order? Orders are taken on delivery days and on the Sunday mornings, before and after our regular services at the Main Campus, following the distribution day until the last day to order for the month. Orders are also taken in the church office at 161 Heaven's Way on Monday through Friday, except for holidays. (See the menus for each month for the exact dates.) You must pay in cash or money order or food stamps for what you purchase when you purchase it. Or, you may order online with a credit card at www.angelfoodministries.com and pick it up here.
How and where do I pick up my food? When you purchase your units of food, you will receive information the date of distribution. Orders can be picked up at the East Campus from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You must pick up your food at this time. Due to refrigeration storage problems, we cannot hold the food. If you do not pick up your food in the time slot, the food will be given to someone in need. There are no make up times and no refunds. If you cannot pick up your order, send your receipt with someone who can pick it up for you.
Can I swap out food I don’t like? NO, the menu items are pre-selected by Angel Food Ministries based on distributor availability. If there are items on the menu you may not use, share them with others that may be blessed by those items.
Why are we doing this? We believe God has led us to help in any way we can with the needs of the community. Because of what God is dong here, we hope it will strengthen your faith and help those who don’t believe to consider beginning a relationship with God and accept Christ as their Savior.
